Palmistry Pt. 1

I’ve always been super interested in palmistry and I think it is a neat “parlor trick” so here is some info taken from Ann Moura’s Grimoire for the Green Witch

Palmistry is holistic — read the lines in both hands as well as their shape, finger placement, palm shape and appearance, presence and thickness of mounds, length of fingers and flexibility of thumb. Lines can change if a person works at developing areas of limitations.

Left Hand - “birth hand” - shoes innate aspects and life’s potentials.
Right Hand - shows how potential is being used.
Power Hand (favored hand) - most often read.
Ambidextrous - a flow between both hands.

Hand Type

Air: long fingers, square palm, many fine lines on palm; expressive, emotionally stable, intellectually curious; writers, teachers, communications, public people.
Earth: short fingers, square palm, deeply lined; serious, practical, active; manual labors like farming, carpentry, business, office, sales.
Water: long fingers, rectangular palm, many clear lines; sensitive, creative, quiet studious careers and low pressure occupations such as research.
Fire: short fingers, rectangular palm, shallow thin lines; creative, energetic, assertive; artists, customer service.

Finger Shapes

Conic: sensitive, impulsive, intuitive, could be eccentric or nervous.
Round: balanced disposition, adapts easily to change.
Square: likes order and regularity, confident and clear-thinking, could be dull.
Spatulate: Independent, energetic, action-loving, could be devious and cruel.
Mixed: versatility, adaptable, can excel in various occupations.

Fingers and Their Lengths

Little (Mercury): communications, business, science, relationships. Long = shrewd and clever; short = difficulty with self-expression.
Ring (Sun): art, personality, creativity, success, talents. Long = imaginative, dreamer, takes chances; short = easily frustrated, prefers solid reality.
Middle (Saturn): responsibilty, self-direction, introspection, wisdom. Long = careful and meticulous; short = holds back on abilities.
Index (Jupiter): ambition, self-confidence, sociability, leadership, religion. Long = self-assured, a leader; short = insecure.
Thumb (Earth): first joint is will, second joint is logic, third joint is rhythm of life; long over all = enterprising; short overall = practical and loyal; longest joint = most influential; equal = balanced.

Mound Locations and Descriptions

Mound of Mercury: beneath little finger. None = lack of business skills, unable to communicate well; well-developed = talent for self-expression, liveliness; highly-developed = talkative, garrulous.
Mound of Sun: Beneath ring finger. None = low energy levels, lack of aesthetic interest or creative pursuits; well-developed = artistic ability, love of beauty, fine arts, etc., highly-developed = extravagant, materialistic, vanity, self-indulgent.
Mound of Saturn: Beneath middle finger. None = indecisiveness, pessimism, humorlessness; well-developed = independent nature, enjoys solitude as well as companionship, self awareness, emotional balance, prudence; highly developed = self-absorbed in the sense of preferring isolation.
Mound of Jupiter: Beneath the index finger. None = low self-esteem, idleness, dislike of authority; well-developed = even temper, assertive, self-assured; highly-developed = can be a strong leader orr overbearing, vain, self-absorbed in sense of insistence of always being right.
Mound of Venus: beneath thumb — everyone as this. Weak = delicate health, lack of exuberance and sensitivity; firm and round = love of outdoors, compassionate, successful; highly developed = physical energy, sexuality, enjoys eating and drinking.
Mound of Moon: opposite of mound of Venus — balance of imagination and reality, subconscious and peace, harmony. Weak/none = totally realistic, no fantasizing; well-developed = good intuition and imagination, strong nurturer; highly developed = restlessness, active imagination, creativity.
Mound of Mars (+): between mound of Jupiter and mound of Venus — ability to overcome obstacles and assertiveness. Weak = quiet and passive nature; well-developed = average courage and aggressiveness; highly developed = hot-tempered and passionate.
Mound of Mars (-): between mound of Mercury and mound of Moon — shows determination and resistance. Weak = not assertive; well-developed = self-reliant, courage, somewhat stubborn; highly developed = inflexibility, tendency towards cruelty or violence.
Plain of Mars: hollow in the center of the palm. Shallow = tends to be confident; average = tends to be careful; deep = tends to be timid.

I was wondering if you guys wanted to see anything specific?? Right now I’m just posting what I find relevant, but if you want to see anything specific, please let me know!!

Daily Blessing

Perform during the morning or evening.

Materials: sage and sweetgrass incense bundle, incense holder, matches.

Spell casting: ground and center, clearing out chaotic energy within.

Light the sage and sweetgrass bundle. Move bundle through the air to make a sigil of the Solar Cross and the Lunar Spiral.

Make the sigil of the pentagram in the air with the smoke at the North, then East, South and finally West.

I call upon the Lord and the Lady of the Sun and Moon,
to cleanse and bless this day and room.

Envision the smoke reaching throughout the home, blanketing the energy therein with soothing energy and gentleness.

Let this day be free from stride and fear;
Let only joy and love come near.
With blessings given and received,
I walk in peace in word and deed.

I know it’s been a super long time since I’ve posted anything and I’m so sorry. Finals are coming up and just don’t have time right now. I do plan on getting a few things up, but I don’t know when. Bear with me please!

domasaurusrex asked: I just wanted to say I saw your post about Kevin-the-atheist, and say I'm sorry you had to go through that. Hope the rest of your day after that made up for it. From one random internet pagan to another, I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thank you so much. Things like this just make my day <3 I hope you have a wonderful day as well!

So, I’ve been waiting for post this because I wanted to be tactful about it. So, here it goes.

Yesterday I met this guy who is an atheist. No big deal, it honestly doesn’t matter to me what religion or spirituality you follow. But anyways, we got to talking about the Well’s Hall preachers that are on campus here. These people are so bad. They stand outside of Well’s Hall and yell at people, calling them “Muslim sluts” and “Devil-loving masturbaters” and “lesbian whores” etc. You get the picture. (Just for the record, if you want someone to follow your religion, calling them derogatory names isn’t going to accomplish anything).

So we were talking about this and how this guy, we’ll call him Kevin, goes and openly protests against them. Here, I was kind of lost. As previously stated, I’m more of a “let’s not talk about religion and ruin our friendship” person or a “let’s all just keep our mouths shut so we don’t offend people” person. But I listened and went along with it. Then he asks me “wait a minute, what’s your religion?” I didn’t want to right away say Pagan in the very Christian study lounge, so I said spiritual but I’m really interested in Buddhism, which isn’t lying, because I am very interested in Buddhism. So then he says “Oh, so you’re a typical college freshman.”

This infuriated me. I wanted to say something, but I wasn’t exactly sure what to say. I mean, I could have gone with “I’ve been pagan/spiritual for longer than you’ve been atheist” or “stop judging” or that nonsense. But I honestly didn’t see the point in arguing with Kevin, who loves to make people (and I quote) “feel uncomfortable by spouting logic at them.”

So this is all I have to say about that.

Anonymous asked: Hey, ok I'm not sure about the terms as of yet, but I've tried doing spells with candles since 6th grade.I am now a sophomore in college. I've became interested, because i met my first best friend and she was wiccan. She gave me spells and things to try. After that and hanging with her for so long everyone started to call us witches and said that we did voodoo and witchcraft, so i left it alone. I have just became interested in it again, but I am lost.I need guidance. Where do I began?.

Well, I would personally start with something small and work your way up. Like meditations and whatnot. Keep a journal of all your experiences and things that you find interesting or drawings of dreams, etc. Get your hands on as much info as possible. Go to a library and check out books, or spend a day in your local bookstore. Find what interests you the most. Runes, chakras, candles, herbs, astrology, dreams, palmistry, tarot… there are so many different areas! I personally like Scott Cunningham and Ann Moura as far as authors go, but there are so many good ones out there.

Also, I don’t know how large your college is, but there are usually groups for religious affiliations. Try finding a pagan one — it usually helps to talk to other people and it feels less lonely because you know that they go to your college. I know at Michigan State University there is a group called the Green Spiral - it’s pretty cool.

I hope this helps!
